A possible tribute to Robert Karvelas in the 2018 version of Freaky Friday?
I decided to watch the new Freaky Friday, which premiered on The Disney Channel yesterday. I did this primarily because I was curious whether it had actors who I suspected were related to Robert Karvelas, not necessarily to Don Adams, or are more closely related to Karvelas than to Adams.
I did find something interesting near the end that closely parallels the diner/cigarette scene from the 1976 Freaky Friday , and there was a quote that was similar to a Larabee quote from "Rebecca of Funny-Folk Farm," a freaky episode itself that reminds me of Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte and Arsenic and Old Lace. The actress whose role parallels Karvelas's isn't one I expected. Jocelyne Loewen, whom I only know as Penny Ling, the panda from The Littlest Pet Shop. I haven't seen any similarities between Penny Ling and Larabee, and anime and Polly Pocket cartoons wouldn't have them. |
