Noticed that the pilot episode seems to be washed out but the following episode is better in picture quality and color. Also it has the boxes on the side while Perfect Strangers didn't get that treatment but yet has a great picture quality.

Anyone notice the extreme zoom in on "Pulling Together" between 9:40-10:04? It's the scene with Frank & JT.

Here are screenshots taken at about the same time to compare. The Hub airing looks normal but the DVD is zoomed in so much it's really pixelated.

So, has there been any talk yet about the second season being put out there? I finished up the first one yesterday and so I am ready for the next one.

God bless you always!!!

I'm also ready for season 2! I'm really strapped for money right now but I'd try to be able to buy this series.

The other day i compared the first episode of season one on the Fan Favorites disk to the first episode on the season set. Despite being pillarboxed the picture quality is a lot sharper. An odd thing I noticed though is that when taking a couple of screengrabs of the opening credits to compare the quality side by side I noticed that the lettering was in slightly places. Strange.

Started season one last night. Watching in production order as per the numbers given on Wikipedia. A little more forced than I remember it to be but it is early days yet.

Considering there were 10 characters in the cast, why did they decide to add Cody?

^^^ Why so many characters are written in at all for any show is anyone's guess. Of course, when anyone is written out, its because of either money issues or not enough popularity compared to the rest of the cast.

God bless you always!!!

And for a show that would be conmpared to The Brady Bunch, why call the mother Carol?

Something else I have always wondered is why the opening credits were about 2 minutes long. I wonder if it was so when the show went into syndication that they could trim the credits down rather than take scenes out?

And you know what I have just noticed; in the opening credits where the cast walk towards the camera as the logo appears on screen, the sister is not in that shot though the mother is.

^^^ Some people for whatever reason just happen to be missing I guess. I recently pointed out in another chat here that Al is missing from the birthday cake scene when the family gathers for Carol's special day in season six.

God bless you always!!!

Some random observations.

The kitchen cabinets were a darker blue in the pilot but are liighter from the next episode.
The lobby area at the front door has gone.

Blooper - in the Urkle episode, watch at 11m15s as Mark and Urckle go upstairs on the top left of the screen and you will see Urkle fall over half way up the stairs.

The picture quality is mostly quite good but in some shots it is very soft and fuzzy. It reminded me of The Brady Bunch dvds were they have used poor quality shots and scenes for bits that were cut for syndication. Part of me truely wonders if these episodes are remastered and as I believe the show was recorded on film and edited on tape that they had to find the original negatives to piece the episodes back together to scan them in HD. Perhaps all the negatives could not be found. With that said, it also seems like a lot of trouble to go to for a show like this. I mean, is it still a big enough show to go to that kind of trouble for as that process is expensive. That is what they did for the Star Trek The Next Generation episodes though with that they had the added expense of new effects.

I am about 5 episodes into this now.

Dana, J.T. and All get the most screentime of the kids. Almost everything Karen says and does relates to her appearance.

The mother and sister hardly get anything to do.

I have now finished the first disk. Though the characters lack depth, I am enjoying the show. So much so that after watching one episode I find myself draw to watching another.

The camping episode was fun enough. The Brady Bunch did the same episode. The girls didn't want go there and here the Fosters don't want to go. There was a gag in The Brady Bunch where Alice stuck her foot in a bucket of water. Here Carol does it. And I wonder what movie that car sinking in the water came from?

The episode with the fight at Jacks was good even if a little OTT but then this is a sitcom and not one based on natural performances on the whole. There was a quite sweet with Dana and Frank at the end.

The kid playing Brendan is quite good. He is generally very natural in his performance and doesn't just come across as spouting lines from a script. All on the other hand is a little more forced and playing more to the audience as is Karen.

Finding it hard to take a break from this show. It is just fun.

Bully for Mark finally gives Mark something to do. He must be the most underused kid on the show so far. In terms of getting stuff to do I would say Dana and JT are tied for first place followed by Al, then Karen and Brendan and finally Mark. The mother and sister place last with the sister getting more to do.

Cody isn't in it as much as I thought he would be.

The school in the Bully episode is Dixie Canyon Avenue School which was also used in The Brady Bunch.
