Default Can Laff get only these junk ads?

When my mom and I watch 3rd Rock From The Sun everyday, there's the same set of ads that are on constantly ad nauseum.

They are:

Liberty Mutual

United Healthcare

Medicare

St. Jude's/Shriners

Lawyer commercials

Farmersonly.com

Auto insurance

Addiction help

Lawsuits

Mesobook

These ads are getting old and I'm just sick of them!

It's not just that channel it's all channels these days.In my opinion all modern advertising is terrible,I don't care what they're pushing.Personally I doubt I would even watch TV on almost any channel without using a DVR these days.Advertising over the past 15-20 years has totally become something you would scrape from the bottom of the barrel.

They pay for the channel and the shows you watch. Don't like them? That's why we have DVDs, streaming and piracy ffs.

Sorry.

I like the shows, just not a fan of the ads, that’s all.

Guess I should be thankful for the ads then.

Hey I love the Farmers Only ad where the horses cancel their owner's date.

I despise these ads. I call them junk ads. They're all over the place--that's almost all you hear on radio.

The worst of the worst are these ads begging for money. The popular figure today is $19 a month. And once they have your credit card.......

And yes, I have DVDs. Sometimes it's just more convenient to watch the program on TV. I tolerate most of the junk ads, but I have to mute the ones begging for money. And, yes, I know they pay for the programs. But what happened to Tide, Crest, bread, butter, and all the other staples? (Yeah, they're over on Hallmark.)

The ONE that's pretty good is the "Rapid Advance" ad. The song, surprisingly, isn't bad.

For me, the junk ads are a small thing as long as they aren’t cutting into the program and making it be edited further. The credit crunch on Antenna and Laff is far worse.

BigCookie,
We've never really talked about this...

How do you feel about credit crunches on some channels?

I can live with them as long as the closing music is not muted or missing, like how Decades does on weekdays. But the way Antenna, Laff, Bounce, and others do them when they crunch the ending of one show in a small box and overlap the beginning of another show in a larger box is just unacceptable and I will not watch any channels that do it that way. I also do not like the ending being crunched for more ads which Antenna does at night to show more useless promos. Other channels like Get TV and Logo don’t even show the real credits but plaster their own credits in small print over the ending scene of the show and I will boycott those networks as well.

I don't watch Laff, but these CPAP ads on Antenna lately are driving me CRAZY! They're getting to be worse than St. Jude!

Terrible ads are nothing new for second- and third-tier networks...remember back in the late 90's when every commercial was either for psychic hotlines (Miss Cleo, anyone?) or collect-calling services.

Those psychic hotline ads were something else, weren't they? Miss Cleo was bad, but the Dionne Warwick and her Psychic Friends ads were even worse.

I, too, remember the collect-calling ads of the 1990s. I still remember 1-800-COLLECT.

Once I got Dish Network, with the ability to record a show and then ffw through the commercials, I stopped watching commercials altogether. I just DVR anything I want to watch, as I cannot stand the commercials. I haven't watched a commercial in many, many years!

Now it's the dating ads on local TV, later in the evening. So, they bring on the scantily-clad women, wanting you to call an 800 number to talk. I think they say the first minute is free, and they don't even mention the price for additional minutes--it's probably in the small print that there's never time to read.

As far as Antenna TV goes, Viasat and So Clean can take a flying leap! (Yes, it does help to record it and watch later!)
