Based on your screenshots, '80s, I now strongly suspect the set for the S1 gym is the same set as the S1 cafeteria. Look at the windows in the back: they are identical. The door on the left is even in the same position. They simply built a wall in front of the doors on the right, and re-dressed the set! They didn't even move the vending machine very far!

Also: after seeing Tootie's red raincoat in this episode, my sister got a matching one. This likely would have been the summer of 1983, when NBC aired reruns of FOL during the summer, in the mornings.

Thanks for sharing these screenshots!

It looks kind of like how the front of a big studio camera looks, but yes, it does seem awfully high up. It's a "something" anyway, lol.

Such a great supporting role in this scene!

Hmm, well the plaques are gray in the cafeteria; perhaps they're the same collages but "grayed out"? lol...and the lounge vending machines are different, but they didn't forget to bring along Tumpy's stereo! Tumpy can't set foot on the campus but her stereo gets to stay!

Oo, good eye, you're right! There's even that same "jutting out section" of wall between the rear door and the right-hand windows! Wow, they fooled the public for 39 years! Way to go Retro!

Specifically because of Tootie? If so, that's awesome

My pleasure, but if it weren't for YT (and a bit of DM), this thread probably wouldn't exist right now---the Internet makes it so easy and convenient to get screenshots! lol

Well, she did need a raincoat. But yes, just after watching this episode. We were big fans.

It really does! So easy to jump forward, rewind, make a screenshot, etc.

And way to go, '80s, too! Without your screenshots, I never would have noticed!

And yes, the 'jutting out' pillar behind the vending machine/lockers is also the same, helping confirm the set crew just did some slight adjustments to convert the S1 cafeteria to a gym.

I do think it could be a studio camera hood, but I'm not 100% sure.

Haha! From what I recall, that stereo stays on the show for every season. A little bit of Tumpy lives on in her stereo and her poster. *sniff*

lol! Yes, and what great "Easter eggs" for those who were with the show from day 1! (or were there from day 1 in reruns, lol)

This got me to thinking: Mrs. G and the girls notwithstanding, what else besides the NYer poster and Tumpy's stereo lasted so many years on the show?

Maybe Jo and Blair's beds?

One more season 1 "set"; as we can see, the front door/porch area stayed pretty much the same from "The Girls' School" onward (though I think in season 1 it was only seen in "The Facts of Love a.k.a. Sex Education"). You can however see that there was more ivy/vegetation under the window in TGS than there ended up being in season 1. I don't think we can tell if the porch light was there in TGS or not, as the space for it is just to the side of the view. And the exterior siding looks gray and cream in TGS, but it looks blue in season 1 when lit at night.

But, one of the girls has a bike they've "parked" at the front door. I'm hoping it's Cindy's.
