![]() Yeah, Sue Ann had a MUCH bigger role than Molly in "The Facts of Love"; so it's crazy they didn't highlight her instead! |

Here’s something! This is the Facts Of Life girls hosting cartoons, with bonus retro commercials thrown in.

I think only Kim and Mindy actually hosted the cartoons, but Lisa, Nancy, Kim and Mindy all did those "One to Grow On" Saturday morning spots. Kim and Nancy for sure did many of them. |

While searching for the Nick at Nite promo where they mention the Lost Girls, I instead came across this article from the Hartford Courant, from September 1, 2000. See if you can spot the mistakes!
A `Facts Of Life' Revival '80s Series Gets Spot On Nick At Nite September 01, 2000|By DAVID DALEY; Courant Staff Writer It was years before the Brat Pack became the icons of '80s teenagers, and long before John Cusack made the girls blush in ``Say Anything'' and ``The Sure Thing'' and Molly Ringwald became the decade's most desirable prom date. Ringwald and Cusack's every-teen appeal came from the way their characters took the good, took the bad, took them both -- and there they had ``The Facts of Life.'' Indeed, the NBC sitcom should probably receive more credit as the ``very special'' real-life precursor to the Reagan-era coming-of-age classics by John Hughes, Cameron Crowe and Rob Reiner. Maybe now that will happen, as Nick at Nite revives the long-running '80s retro-culture favorite with a ``Facts of Life'' marathon all next week, before the show joins the prime-time nostalgia fest at 8:30 Monday through Thursday. The ``Facts'' girls -- Lisa Whelchel, Nancy McKeon, Kim Fields and Mindy Cohn -- were spun-off from ``Diff'rent Strokes'' in 1979, and the show ran nine seasons, following Blair, Jo, Tootie and Mindy not just through the high school traumas at elite Eastland Academy but through college and their first halting step into the professional world. And along the way, the show gave early starts to George Clooney, Helen Hunt, David Spade, Juliette Lewis and Ringwald, a cast member during the first year. Calling from her home in California this week, Whelchel speculated that the show's honest approach to adolescent angst is why she still gets random hugs from fans now, 12 years after the show went off the air. ``I've come to understand,'' Whelchel said, with a laugh. ``It's kind of like meeting up with a kid you grew up with. There's so much to talk about. People want to catch up. I think that's probably because, to some degree, everybody bonded with at least one girl. ``As a whole, the show dealt with feelings everybody was going through and dealing with in their own lives. That's what makes it so much fun to have a marathon. This is like catching up with old friends.'' These days, Whelchel, 37, is married and the mother of three. She rarely acts, choosing instead to home-school her children, setting up her own Eastland Academy for them. And one thing she doesn't do is let them watch much TV. ``We had our strengths and weaknesses as characters, but it wasn't a show that people felt bad about their kids watching,'' she said. ``One of the things that's so sad about shows that have young people now is you don't want your kids to watch it, because you don't want your kids to act like that. They're disrespectful of their parents. They have loose morals. I don't want to generalize, but that really is the case.'' And while Whelchel opted out of the Hollywood game, most of her fellow ``Facts'' classmates have had that decision made for them. McKeon has been limited to mostly TV movies about Mafia princesses and female volunteer firefighters. Cohn's most prominent role has been as a voice on the cartoon ``Chimp Channel.'' Fields, however, starred on the long-running sitcom ``Living Single.'' They have, however, faced the facts of life after ``Facts'' with more dignity and fewer tabloid headlines than the stars of the show they were spun off from, ``Diff'rent Strokes.'' Whelchel, a born-again Christian since she was 10, credits her faith in the Lord for helping her prioritize. ``Child stars look for answers in the things available to them: drugs, alcohol, fame. They have all that readily available,'' she said. ``But it's not the answer they're looking for, and when they grow up and don't have the fame, think, `Oh, goodness. I had it all. That didn't do it. Maybe there is no hope.' ``I was fortunate. I became a Christian. I found the answers everybody's looking for to fill their empty spaces inside. It saved me from going down those other paths, towards those temporary fixes.'' Whelchel plans to share her parenting advice in a book out later this year, called ``Creative Connection.'' But with the kids getting older, she is thinking about getting back into acting, and a ``Facts of Life'' reunion movie may well be in her future. After all, with '70s TV now almost exhausted of potential movie spin-offs, it seems inevitable that ``Facts,'' ``Three's Company'' and ``It's Your Move'' will get big-screen translations soon. ``They're talking about a reunion show. I hope the network goes for it,'' she said. ``I imagine that Blair would probably still be running Eastland. Jo is traipsing across Brazil or something saving the rainforest. Tootie is probably a big movie star. And Natalie is a romance columnist. I can't wait to see what they come up with.'' |

Fun item! (Although they should have adjusted the lamp behind Dana's head, as it looks as though it's coming out of her head.)
Kim, meanwhile, was wondering why the DS cast was being so difficult. |

Ah, okay; I wondered if you meant she was experiencing problems with some of them on the set. I'm glad that wasn't the case.
