Has anyone noticed any episodes that were incomplete on the DVD set? I was heartbroken to realize the "Bill Moves On" episode was missing a scene. I had a VHS copy of the episode that includes footage not included on DVD. Has anyone noticed any other incomplete episode on DVD?

Yes, there was the "Bill Moves On" episode, which you mentioned and then there is the episode "The Injury." There was controversy about airing it, so NBC took this episode that was produced in early season two and aired it at the end of season three but slightly censored. The funny thing is, the DVD collection from Sony has the episode on there twice (once in season two and again in season three), however, both times they have some dialogue missing. In the scene towards the end where Dave is showing Bill the fines, Bill says "How much will the fines be?" Dave hands him a piece of paper. Bill asks "Total?" Dave responds "Per penis." The last two lines were omitted from the DVD, however. I used to have it on tape from when my local affiliate showed it, but other than that, I haven't seen that bit elsewhere.
Other than those two edits, I think all the episodes are uncut. It could have been a lot worse, but I admit those two edits really bug me. |

Thanks for your response! I'm glad there are no more episodes that people suspect are missing footage from the DVD releases!
It's funny you mentioned that podcast because I just discovered that today and listened to Episode 0. I will definitely listen through to the end. Also, it's great to see your top-sitcom list! "NewsRadio" is the perfect show for me, so I love to see what other people who also love that show watch! ("NewsRadio" is firmly my number-one!) I'm especially happy to see that you have included "Newhart"; it seems to be mostly forgotten, but I agree it's one of the all-time best. "Parks and Recs" holds a very special place in my heart as well. I also think the comedy of "Perfect Strangers" is some of the best physical comedy I've ever seen. Others on my list would include "Get Smart," "Bewitched," "Green Acres," "Mama's Family," "Soap," "All in the Family," "Malcolm in the Middle," "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," and "Freakazoid!" |
