Default Original house vs. 5th season house?

Did you like the original George & Dorothy house on Marshall Rd. or the fifth season house of George's brother Steve and wife Barbara better?

I really like the George & Dorothy house more because it seems more "homey" and "cozy" to me than Steve's. Not that Steve's house wasn't nice, but it seems too formal and stuffy for a young family.

Lightbulb Thunderbird vs. Fairlane?

George and Dorothy Baxter's home reflects the taste and charm of a couple who were married for many years at the time the NBC episodes started. (Dorothy, remember, was depicted as a free-lance interior decorator.) Steve and Barbara Baxter's home reflects sort of a "nouveau riche" lifestyle. Steve, remember, was years younger than George and, I would presume, was still on his way up the ladder when the CBS episodes aired. I think Steve wanted to be like big brother George. And Barbara was no Dorothy when it came to style. I would imagine that Barbara's interior decoration was a sincere but clumsy attempt to imitate Dorothy's. Sort of like comparing a '65 Thunderbird to a '65 Fairlane.

I loved both houses. George & Dorothy's home was a suburban colonial style home that is fitting for a lawyer who wanted to live semi formal, but not too over the top. Dorothy loved traditional furniture and furnished it with a mix of different styles like Duncan Phyfe, Queen Anne, French provincial etc.....The house/set was used for Gidget when Hazel changed locations.

Steve & Barbara's home was a more formal type colonial style house with it's arched door ways and spiral staircase. Barbara also liked traditional furniture and furnished it with the same styles that Dorothy liked. Maybe Dorothy helped her decorate. I assume after Steve got into the real estate business, they lucked up and got their house way below price of what it's valued at as a fixer upper. In one episode Steve sells the home and Barbara goes along with him to make him happy, but the confesses to Hazel that she is heartbroken that she really doesn't want to sell. She say's she got a kick out of fixing up all the houses they lived in, but this house is their home and she never thought of living anywhere else.

Steve & Barbara's house/set was also being redressed and used at the same time for another Screen Gems sitcom The Farmer Daughter with Inger Stevens. FD took place at the home of Congressman Glen Morley (William Windom) and they would redress and move it around a bit to try and disguise it

Screen Gems was notorious for reusing their sets for decades.

The Steve Baxter house was also used in Bewitched, S.3.5 & 6, it's the house that either Uncle Arthur or Endora (forget which) zap up so that they can live near Sam & Tabitha.
