Yes, Hazel was a busybody, but she was a kind woman who seemed to always want to do what was best for people. As awful as Dierdre was to her, Hazel always took the high road.

Yes, all this, and she was a doozie of a cook too!

Hazel's been one of my all time favorites since I saw it as a kid in the '60s. When VCR's were invented I started taping it from whatever cable channel would show it back then, CBN, WOR, TBS. I've literally now been watching my tapes/DVDs of the show on a weekly basis since 1987. Only now am I going to switch to another show and give Hazel a long needed break, this past week I watched the final episode of the series (watching always in episode guide order) and coming this week will finally start another show in it's place. When you get to the point (that I've gotten to now) that Hazel is more annoying to you than funny, it's time to give it a break. Her wholly unacceptable manner with Mr. B now seems to enrage
me instead of inducing laughter, so I'm giving it a break. Maybe when I start watching again I'll once again find enjoyment in her rude never ending nagging.![]() When my immediate reaction to her isn't to shout to Mr. B. "FIRE HER!!!" then I'll know I can once again enjoy the show. Right now that's all I can think, "You're Fired" everytime Hazel interferes and pays no attention to what Mr. B tells her. |

I have never seemed to have the time to watch an entire series through. I usually stop after about 50-60 eps. The only shows where I've watched every ep (marathon like) were Square Pegs and Gidget- but they only lasted a season. |

Yes, I have given Hazel a VERY long run in my house. I watch many different classic (50's-60's, sometime early '70's) TV shows every week and when I watch them I watch all episodes of each series in their episode guide order before I move onto another series. For all other shows (except Hazel & My 3 Sons) I watch every episode and then I start watching another TV series from beginning to end in it's place.
Now for the first time I'm going to replace Hazel instead of starting it over again. I still enjoy and look forward to my weekly watching of My 3 Sons so I plan on watching this series all over again when I reach the last episode in probably another year. I watch my shows in order and keep track of each episode watched in order to be sure I don't repeat any before the rest of them start and to be sure I've seen them all. If I just blindly picked up a DVD popped it in and watched whatever came up, it would be totally out of control and I'd never know what I'd seen and what I still need to see. I guess I'm just too conscious of what I watch and to want to watch everything before I just haphazardly move on to another series. |

I think, also, people tend to forget that a sassy no nonsense maid was new at least for television in the early 1960's. Remember the Jefferson's maid Florence was years in the future so what might seem annoying to us was fresh and new at the time.
