Whatever happened to John Welsh (Detective Earl "Big Earl" Barnett)?
I've always wondered whatever became of John Welsh, who played bumbling detective (and one of Raj and Rerun's neighbors) Earl "Big Earl" Barnett during the show's third season.
After "What's Happening!!" wrapped in the spring of '79, Welsh worked steadily throughout the following decade, with guest-star appearances on "Archie Bunker's Place," "Knots Landing," "Cagney & Lacey," "Hotel," "Remington Steele," "Saved By The Bell," "Gimme A Break!," "The Facts Of Life," "Who's The Boss?," and "Perfect Strangers." In addition to his guest-star work, Welsh also appeared in recurring roles on "Night Court" and "Life Goes On." Welsh's last credit, according to IMdb (The Internet Movie Database), was the "Damn Bundys" episode of "Married...With Children" in 1997, which aired during season eleven (Welsh had guest-starred on "Married" during its fourth season).
