My parents used to watch this show a lot, and I'd watch it with them. I remember there was this one episode where a girl wanted some cake or something sweet, and the doctor told her no and that she could have some cottage cheese. She didn't like that and rebelled and snuck some sweets off a cart anyway and went into a coma. I was talking with someone on the way home because I'm wondering what the character had wrong with her. I know it's not diabetes because I've been a diabetic for over 30 years; and if I rebelled against my diet and had some sweets without giving enough insulin, my blood sugar would go up because diabetes doesn't affect people that way. I'd have to go a long time and make it a habit of doing that before I'd slip into a coma. It wasn't the title character who was the doctor who had told her no. It was the doctor who had a stroke later on in another episode. I remember there was an episode where some guy who was gay and got AIDS, and my brother said they'd lose ratings, and that could be true because having gay characters on TV was new at the time.
Take care and God bless |
