Is it my imagination or has Let's Make A Deal gone downhill? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I have been a fan of the Wayne Brady version of Let's Make A Deal and lately when I have watched it I have noticed that it has gone downhill and I would like to know if anyone has noticed this? When I have seen Let's Make A Deal I've noticed that CBS has made the show into a combination of The Price Is Right a variety show and sitcom similar to Cheers and I remember when Let's Make A Deal was all about prizes and fun but ever since Wayne Brady has started hosting this version of Let's Make A Deal it seemed like CBS planned to make it have a comedy vibe. The second thing I noticed about Let's Make A Deal is that it seems that the contestants that get picked first when the show begins seem to go for the money prize rather than the curtain and I remember when CBS debuted the Wayne Brady version of Let's Make A Deal that they would pick the contestants and the show would start with a prize and that would make the show fun to watch but now it seems that money is now the first prize at the start of the show. Third thing I noticed about Let's Make A Deal is that in this version it seems to have more games with cars that seem impossible for the contestants to win and I cannot figure out why CBS decided to do this to Let's Make A Deal. Take for example one of the car games involves unlocking a box with car keys with a the correct key within a time limit and if the box is unlocked contestants win a car but every time I've seen Let's Make A Deal when this game is played there are few winners of this game. And there should be less car games and cars should be given behind the curtain as a top prize. Finally in the Big Deal why is it that on this version of Let's Make A Deal they make a prize like a summer barbecue set or a fitness package be the Big Deal sometimes and rarely vacations and cars are the Big Deal prize. In my honest opinion CBS should improve Let's Make A Deal on the Big Deal and have a longer Quick Deals ending segment

I remember the original Let's Make a Deall with Monty Hall. The big prize back then was a giant box of Cremette Macaroni.

I never did like the Wayne Brady version. I like the Monty Hall version a lot better.

Hi Bestie! LMD has changed since Brady took over. They are letting him do too much singing and jokes. He is a good host, but he needs to let the show be the star, not him. There should be a balance. Right now it is the Wayne Brady show, with some deals thrown in. Good subject Bestie!

I agree, I think Wayne Brady is about the most obnoxious, smug and irritating person on television. He's very annoying. The Price Is Right has gone downhill too since Drew Carey became host. Overall it's hanging on and is still a decent enough show, but Drew Carey is too much of a clown to be a good game show host.

Here's another thing I noticed about the Wayne Brady version of Let's Make A Deal that I think is causing it to go downhill. Why do they have so many theme shows and weeks on nearly every season of the show? Is it because people seem to like theme weeks and shows of Let's Make A Deal or is it a way to get more viewers to watch the show? Take for example you might've thought with Memorial Day Monday Let's Make A Deal would've had a Memorial Day themed episode with military veterans playing for deals but instead they had a rerun from 2016. I have also noticed that on Let's Make A Deal that they seem to play the exact same car games and you might think with every season Let's Make A Deal is on they should retire some of the old car games and make new car games that would be awesome. I think when the new season of Let's Make A Deal debuts in the fall CBS should improve the game and add more new games and perhaps show The Mega Deal and The Super Deal more often

You are right Bestie, they do not come up with fresh material. It is a combination of laziness and cheapness. They want as much money as possible from LMD while spending as little as possible. They will only add new stuff if the ratings go down.

Did anyone else see the episode with the female weightlifter contestant? After she picked up Wayne, literally, his making some comment was predictable -- but I think he took it pretty far by implying that she flipped his switch, so to speak. Maybe the show has become a little more raunchy than it was. For daytime especially, the sexual connotations can get pretty strong.

Another thing I have noticed about Let's Make A Deal is that when they offer vacations as prizes you see few trips to cities in America and the vacations they offer are to countries such as Germany and China Italy England and even Africa and India and what I think Let's Make A Deal should do in future episodes is offer prizes of vacations such as a week at a dude ranch in Texas or a weekend in the Rockies or a trip to Sacramento to tour the state capital of California or even a family trip to Walt Disney World/Disneyland and that would make the show exciting to watch

They definitely need to switch some prizes out on Let's Make a Deal. A dude ranch trip is a cool idea.

Wayne Brady is one of the nicest celebrities I have ever met in person, but I do agree he sometimes overpowers the show.

If there are fewer trips in the big deal, it's probably because they suck. I won a trip once, and here's how it was. I was a lucky caller to go on a bus trip to see Elvis Presley impersonators and other people connected with him. I wanted to meet Ray Walker who was one of the Jordanairres, but they were rushing us to get on the bus, and he was late in getting out, and I never got the chance. I always go for door two when I watch the show at home because as a common rule of thumb, if you're in doubt on a multiple choice, go for the middle one. Anyway, the last time I saw an episode I hadn't seen before, there was $6,015 behind my door; and I would've probably liked that better than even a brand new car because if I got a new car, as someone said before, I would have to sell it to pay for the taxes; and I could probably get a used car that wouldn't be in too bad a shape even after Uncle Sam took out his share.
