The CW Sets 4-Way Superhero Crossover Event for Nov. 27th-28th
The CW Sets 2-Night Event for 4-Way Superhero Crossover
by Natalie Abrams Aug 2, 2017 The CW plans to air its upcoming four-way superhero crossover across two nights this fall. The crossover will kick off Monday, Nov. 27 with "Supergirl" followed by "Arrow" — moving to Monday at 9 p.m. ET just for the event — and will conclude on Tuesday, Nov. 28 with "The Flash" and "DC’s Legends of Tomorrow" in their regular timeslots. (Arrow will not air on Thursday that week.) “Last year’s crossover was our most successful week I believe in The CW’s history,” The CW boss Mark Pedowitz said. “We felt that in this particular case, we already had Flash and Legends paired. It would be better and tighter in terms of storytelling to make it like a two-night, two-hour miniseries. We thought this was a tight, concise way of doing it. Next year, we may go back to four nights.” Details on the four-way crossover are being kept under wraps, but Pedowitz did offer one tease: “Let me just say, romance is in the air,” he said, likening this big team-up to Marvel’s tentpole movies. “What’s the joy of having the third Avengers? It’s the fun of having everybody get together, that’s the fun of it. You get to see a whole different thing. They’re all big episodic productions, but this will be even bigger.” http://ew.com/tv/2017/08/02/cw-flash...rossover-date/ |

"Quantico" Star Russell Tovey to Play Gay Superhero in Arrow-verse Crossover
by Nick Romano Sept. 22, 2017 While fans are still wondering when they might see a prominent LGBTQ comic book superhero on the big screen, The CW continues to represent with its DC TV universe. Openly gay actor Russell Tovey (Quantico, Looking) has been cast as The Ray, the openly gay superhero coming to the four-show Arrow-verse crossover, as well as a solo animated series on The CW Seed. Raymond “Ray” Terrill is described as “a reporter who discovered a group of government scientists working on a secret project to turn light into a weapon of mass destruction. But before he could report on his findings, the project head exposed Ray to a ‘genetic light bomb.’ The bomb failed to kill him and instead gifted Ray with light-based powers. With these abilities, Ray realized he could go beyond reporting on injustice — he could take action to help stop it. Calling himself The Ray, he was recruited by Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters to fight violence and oppression wherever it exists.” The network first announced the character at the beginning of August to lead the animated series "Freedom Fighters: The Ray", executive produced by Arrow co-creator Greg Berlanti. Another prominent member of the LGBTQ community, Berlanti welcomed his son into the world last year with his partner, professional soccer player Robbie Rogers. http://ew.com/tv/2017/09/22/arrow-cr...rhero-the-ray/ |
