Default The way I figure it....

Hey There...

If I recall correctly, the show was in a bit of a ratings slump...not only did the 1st wife eventually go but Walt and a few others...I thought too that the chemistry and the show were great earlier on...

The father in law sings to a cow to get a glass of milk from her for a scavenger hunt, which he was forced to be partnered with Jeff in by the wives, Matt goes trick or treating and runs around with a sugar high saying can I have some more candy? and later I can't sleep, I can't sleep I can't sleep...

In the beginning it was to me more laugh out loud funny...sadly with the cast changes and the forced plotline changes it never regained its glory...

That's just the way I see it though

Hope that helps in some way....

Blessings...

The first wife was played by actress Anita Barone, formerly a regular on the 1990 NBC series CAROL & COMPANY (not to be confused with the classic CBS
series THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW). I wonder whatever became of Anita.

I might be off on why but I remember the Foxworthy show airing in like '93 and '94(?), and Wife number 1 showed up on the first episode off "Friends" in the fall of '94 as Ross' wife, she was later replaced by someone else, but the 1st Foxworthy wife WAS in the first episode of Friends, and the timing may have had something to do with it.

The Jeff Foxworthy show premiered in September of 1995.

I thought the only reason wife #1 was replaced was because the show jumped from ABC to NBC???

Yes it changed networks between seasons. NBC overhauled the show, Jeff Foxworthy and Haley Joel Osment were the only cast members who were kept. Wife was recast, a 2nd son was added, and the location and Jeff's job and coworkers changed. 1st wife was definitely prettier.
