That was a strangely serious episode that aired this morning about one of Jeff's college friends who becomes depressed over his low test scores that he almost has a nervous breakdown studying all night at the Stones home. It wasn't very funny at all.

Yeah they even turned off the laugh track. It definitely wasn't standard DR fare.

I don't get ME-TV. Are they airing all of Season 8?

It seems they are going to show all of season 8. In another thread, someone said they aired 2 episodes from season 6 at the end of July, and then skipped to season 8. Hopefully, they will finish season 8. I didn't realize me-tv got the rights to these seasons, so I missed the first few episodes, but started recording as soon as I found out. They have not been re-mastered and have the old LBS communications logo at end.

Thanks for the info. I only have the "Cereal" DVD from 2003 and did not tape any episodes when Nick@Nite aired them, so will have to look for someone who's recording these.

Right...they are not remastered, and they are syndication episodes. However, the quality is quite good...the 80s mastering to videotape must have been pretty good. Most of the time they skip stuff like the opening writer and director credits, and they have never shown the original Screen Gems logo at the end.
I don't think we'll get to see any more of season 6 or any of season 7. Both of these seasons weren't syndicated, and probably were never even mastered to videotape. I think the season 6 episodes shown on MeTV were just flukes, somehow mastered to tape at some point. I think those seasons were shown on ABC daytime years ago, but probably from film at the time. |
