HBO Boss on "Deadwood" Revival

At HBO’s portion of the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Saturday, the cabler’s new programming president Casey Bloys noted that "Deadwood" creator David Milch is “writing the script.”

“We haven’t read it yet. I imagine it will be very good. I feel good about it… But I can’t tell you that it’s happening for sure.”

"Deadwood" Movie Update: “Script Terrific” Says HBO Programming Boss; Budget, Cast & Director Being Figured Out – TCA

Today at TCA HBO programming boss Casey Bloys provided an update on the return of David Milch’s "Deadwood". Creator David Milch turned in a script. Bloys’ wanted a script that would both appeal to "Deadwood" fans and non-fans alike.

“He totally delivered on this,” said Bloys further adding, “If we can do for the right budget it make sense. We’re taking to directors and we’re getting the cast together, which is not an easy task. Then we’re inclined to do it if we can get over those hurdles.”

“The script is terrific,” added Bloys.

We do know that former "Deadwood" stars have been approached for the new movie.

Kim Dickens and Dayton Callie, who now star on AMC's "Fear the Walking Dead", revealed at Comic-Con that HBO has asked if they were available to do the new "Deadwood" film.

Ian McShane has also said that he would do the film “in a heartbeat.”
