I'm currently watching some excellent Dateline coverage of this case and wanted to get the opinion of my fellow posters. Michele Harris was a New York resident who went missing on Sept 11, 2001 (unrelated to the terror attacks). She was reportedly still residing with her husband Cal Harris and their four children, on their 252 acre property. By all accounts, Cal and Michele Harris were in the midst of a contentious divorce, and as one can imagine, the timing and location of her disappearance only served to complicate investigative efforts.
Her husband quickly became the prime suspect in this case, and was ultimately tried for murder four times before being acquitted in 2016. His first two trials ended in convictions, but were each later overturned on appeal. Trial number three ended in a hung jury, and trial number four was the acquittal. Sadly, to this day Michele Harris has never been found. What do you all think? Did the judge get this one right? http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...s_michele.html |
