Just wanted to give my fellow true crime fans the heads up on a new miniseries set to air on the Oxygen network called The Jury Speaks. From the looks of it, it seems that the program plans to highlight at least four high profile cases and the outcomes from the perspective of the jury in each case. It looks pretty fascinating to me, considering I adamantly disagreed with every verdict in the cases they're planning to profile. My only disappointment is that I was hoping the Casey Anthony case would be one they were planning to do a segment on, but that appears not to be the case.
At any rate, the program is scheduled to begin on 7/22 for anyone who's interested. Hope you all will enjoy! http://www.oxygen.com/the-jury-speak...july-22-at-98c |

Could be interesting. I hope they persuade some of the other O.J. jurors to participate, and not merely the same ones who have appeared publicly. They drive me nuts.
Of course, the jurors in cases like this drive me nuts more often than not...prioritizing everything that deserves no weight while downplaying or ignoring the meaningful stuff. O.J. might be released on parole very soon. That would be a twist and undoubtedly inspire several programs on various networks. Actually he should have been paroled a long time ago for the Palace Station caper alone but I have no problem keeping him where he is, given June 12th, 1994. If O.J. is released I hope he doesn't return to southwest Miami. As I've mentioned here I used to see him all the time on the golf course and occasionally at local eateries and businesses. His home was not far from Killian High School. But the golf course he played -- Calusa Country Club -- closed in 2011 and is still under a legal battle. Bacardi (rum) bought the property with intent to neglect it and run it into the ground as a golf course and therefore claim it was no longer viable as a golf course and should be re-zoned for any purpose they desired, despite the 99 year covenant requiring the property to function as a golf course. The re-zoning would be worth roughly $7 million extra for Bacardi, according to property value analysts. A local judge suspiciously ruled in Bacardi's favor, stunning legal experts who thought it was clear cut the other way. Then an appeals court reversed that ruling and basically scolded the local judge for ignoring everything in their previous ruling on the matter, decades earlier. Many locals think the local judge was paid off by Bacardi. I don't doubt it, considering the strong arm tactics Bacardi used on golf course residents while trying to get them to sign away the covenant. |

It's funny because for years after the Goldman/Simpson murders, my mom totally believed OJ was innocent, and she and I used to debate that case intensely. It wasn't until that whole book disaster...you know If I Did It...that her and I finally got on the same page with our respective opinions. Well, here's hoping the parole board has more sense than a certain jury did. |

Well after watching the first episode tonight, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I didn't think I could ever feel sympathetic towards the Simpson jurors, but sure enough, by the end of the program, I absolutely did. I guess I had forgotten after all these years that the Simpson jurors were rigidly sequestered for months on end during the trial and deliberation. For f*ck sake, the Simpson jurors and alternates spent more time in prison for the Goldman/Brown murders than OJ ever did!
At any rate the next case they're profiling is the infamous molestation trial of Michael Jackson. I don't have as clear an opinion on this case as the others, simply because I avoided the trial at the time, and don't know anything about the evidence in the case. My opinion has always been that while I didn't want to believe he was guilty of the charges, I believed it all the same. Maybe some of my fellow posters can speak up with a more informed opinion of the Jackson case. BTW...was that Aphrodite Jones narrating tonight? I just love her! She's pretty hot too IMO, lol. Might have a little crush... |
