Default Hilarious Halloween Episode on WGN Sunday

For those of you that get WGN, the classic Newhart episode from Halloween (1987) will be on this Sunday night. It's the episiode where everyone in town starts believeing that Dick is really an alien out to destroy them all! It was mine and my (late) dad's favorite episode. Catch it if you can.

I know- it's great. I have my dish set up to tape it every Sunday evening. Maybe they'll show most of the seasons before it gets taken off.

I thought it was interesting that this episode was shown exactly 21 years ago tonight.

Wasn't that the episode with Tweedledum and Tweedledee?

THAT's the ONE-lol.

A few hilarious quotes from this episode:

DICK: How do you KNOW we're being invaded by aliens?

MAN: It's OBVIOUS! I just saw strange lights in the sky.

DICK: Where?

MAN: Over the airport! Not to mention the wierd, trucklike noises coming from the highway.

DICK: I wish you all would just go, just leave my inn-

TWEEDLEDEE: Oh, SURE Dick- why dont you just RING the DINNERBELL!!!

*TV reception goes out, test pattern plays*
Stephanie: What's that?!
Michael: It's the WPIV test pattern.
Stephanie: Oh my God it's hideous!

Yes, I loved Stephanie's reaction to the test pattern and the people spooked by truck like noises (by the highway) and glowing objects over the airport! I still have that on my DVR, I also hope WGN keeps playing the show. I have been taping some episodes and soon I will put some to DVDr (for legal home archiving).

My dvd recorder is messed up, but I'm putting them on vhs until I get a new one and can transfer them over. Looks like from last night that they've started on season 3- Peter Scolari just got added to the cast. The show is really getting funnier (IMO).

IMHO, Newhart didn't really hit its stride until Julia Duffy and Peter Scolari came on the scene. They were hilarious separately AND together!!
