There seems to be some obsession with slapping Vietnam on the series, probably fueled by Nabors' comment about not being able to sit and watch the opening.

Anyway, if "Gomer's buddies soon all go away," how does best-buddy Duke Slater become a Corporal right there at Camp H...? For that matter, what about Carter, when does he go to 'Nam?

This was a good series, with a very good character, and I resent it when people try to stir up all of the Vietnam **** with no real justification.

What's next, will you be complaining that Major Nelson never got killed in a NASA accident on I Dream of Jeannie?
