I hope I put this in the right section.
Anyway, for many years ABC has given this film a four hour, forty-five minute time slot presumably to show the movie uncut. However, I think I remember back in the early 90s, ABC back than gave the film a four hour, forty-five minute time slot in order to show the movie uncut. I find that unusual since that, commercial time has increased since the early 90s, you would think that if ABC wanted to show the movie uncut, they would give it a bigger time slot and show the same amount of ads. I'm not complaining though. |

I have this movie on DVD. Last year I played my copy at the same time ABC's version started. When my copy ended Their version ran an additional 93 minutes. This of course the amount of time set aside for commercials. I don't know about you, but I have better things to do than watch over 90 minutes of commercials.

TV is almost unwatchable anymore with how much commercial time has been added over the years. It seems like there are commercials every 5 minutes nowadays for some shows that last an hour or more You cannot get into a show that way.I've even noticed this in radio talk shows too.Too much emphasis has been placed on the almighty dollar and quality has taken a back seat.
I'm not a huge NASCAR fan but do enjoy watching the Daytona 500.The commercial breaks every 5 minutes this year just had me fuming.Nobody cares about anything anymore other than making as much profit as they can. This isn't just a rant about TV.Food packaging sizes have decreased while we pay more. Most businesses operate with a bare minimum skeleton crew of overstressed employees who don't care anymore. It's across all of soceity.Home and rental prices have increased way over the rate of pay the last 50 years.Same with car prices. Sorry for the rant : ) |

This is a great movie if you watch it from the beginning and pay attention, though the commercials really test your attention span and patience. I watched the entire film on ABC only once. The ratings are always decent for an old movie on network TV though. Disc is much better, you just click the next chapter button once that intermission starts.
