TV Monica Horan To Guest on "The Middle"

"The Middle" Stages "Raymond" Reunion as Brick Meets his Other Mom
by Michael Ausiello
February 15, 2017

Everybody loves a good casting stunt — "The Middle" included.

The venerable ABC comedy has recruited Monica Horan — aka "Middle" star Patrica Heaton’s former "Everybody Loves Raymond" co-star — to guest star in a spring episode as Brick’s “second” mother, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Quick refresher: It was revealed way back in Season 2 that a baby mix-up occurred at the hospital where Brick was born, and a family by the name of the Fergusons accidentally took Brick home (while the Hecks made off with the Ferguson kid). A month went by before anyone realized a terrible mistake had been made.

Well, Horan will play the never-before-seen Ferguson matriarch Anna.

That's awesome! They had great chemistry on ELR. But where's Robert?!

Yeah, Ray and the late Doris has been on the show but Brad Garrett has never guested to my knowledge.

I wonder if Patricia Heaton and Brad might have clashed over politics maybe. I thought they got along fairly well though.

Isn't her husband some sort of TV bigshot?

He was the producer of Everybody Loves Raymond. But she was so perfect as Amy! I loved the character.

Default Monica Horan To Guest on "The Middle"

Last night's episode was a lot of fun to watch.

Patricia Heaton and Monica Horan were perfect opposites.

I'd like to see Monica back with a bigger part next season.

They were great together.

And Monica was perfectly cast as Amy on Everybody Loves Raymond.

She won't be back. How many scenarios have we seen where Frankie tries to explain her silly and neglectful ways to someone who's sitting there silently judging her? Think Mrs. Rinsky, think of the meetings with principals, doctors, etc. She's a horrible person, for sure...and usually some guest star is trucked out to play the judgmental person that Frankie tries to impress. Monica filled that spot last night, but she's history now. She had more screen time on Heaton's cooking show.

Patty and Peter Boyle really clashed on politics--in reverse of their Raymond roles. Never heard of Brad speaking out on politics. Don't remember what year Peter died but he never made it on The Middle--neither did Brad. Only Ray, Doris, and now Amy.
