Default Three Stooges marathon Saturday, 4/1/2017 on Antenna TV

Link

24 episodes running from 1:00 PM ET to 10 PM ET.

For some reason they've neglected to release the full episode listing. I guess it'll just be a surprise.

It looks like they are going to alternate, first showing a Curly short, then followed by a Shemp short. Three Little Beers is the first one that's scheduled to air. That's good because I think that one is funny. The rest of the list I'll leave as a surprise.

I'm more of an East Side Kids/Bowery Boys fan. The Stooges are OK, but for me after watching a few films their antics start to get tiresome.

Where did you get the schedule? I'm curious because I searched everywhere to no avail. On Antenna's online schedule they have three episodes listed, but each one is three hours long so that's obviously incorrect.

My cable TV service has the information in the program listings. I won't list the titles, but it looks like they are going to air Curly shorts from 1936 & 37, and Shemp shorts from 1948 & 49, alternating between the two, Curly short followed by Shemp short, etc. I look forward to see Three Little Beers, that's a good one and I haven't seen it in a while.

Okay, thanks. The late '30s were good years for the Curly era so I'm glad to see their selection is from there. Same for the Shemp era and late '40s.

Just got done watching Three Little Beers. It was funny but I noticed Antenna TV cut a piece of it out, they even have to edit the Stooges shorts.

I don't see this title on the schedule for today, but one Shemp short that's funny is Sing A Song Of Six Pants. There's a funny scene in it where Shemp is reading the comics and laughing to himself out loud, Moe gets annoyed by this and goes over to Shemp, says a smart ass remark to him then gives him a whack.

Goof On The Roof is another good one with Shemp, but that one is from later on, filmed in 1953.

That's weird, as the Stooge shorts tend to run from 15 to 20 minutes.

Doesn't matter, Antenna TV edits just about everything. They have to make sure there is enough time to fit all those commercials in.

The slots they're giving each episode is about 23 minutes, meaning the start times are going severely off the clock. That also means an 18 minute short ends with 5 solid minutes of commercials. Even more so when you account for the editing.

The film prints are really poor on some episodes, most noticeably "Pain in the Pullman". Just very blurry and the image would jump up and down every so often. I thought Antenna would have gotten their hands on the restored prints but I guess not.

One of the funniest shorts with Curly is An Ache In Every Stake, that's the one where they have to deliver ice to the house with that long flight of steps. Lots of funny visual gags in this one, and Curly is in top form he's hilarious.

My Hubby was watching it when I got home from work! He loves the Three Stooges! So I put it on too in my bedroom TV. I'm watching it as I post!!! I'm tired and in the mood for something really silly , not that I'm a huge fan but I like them sometimes!!

I really like that one (Punchy Cowpunchers) because it has a few quirks, like the incidental music which I think adds to the humor. Unfortunately that's the last one they're showing tonight due to Johnny Carson at 10.

I agree, that's one of their strongest shorts. I love the sight gags. I actually wish they had skipped around a bit more for this marathon so they could have shown more episodes like these, rather than starting at a random period and moving from there. I still enjoyed it though, there were a lot of classics shown.
