When Mom and I watch Hallmark Channel sometimes I've noticed that Hallmark Channel has started to make it's shows and sitcom reruns in big screen format and I would like to know if this is a new thing that Hallmark Channel is trying to attract a new audience? Because when I have seen Frasier I noticed that it looks big and amazing and when I watched I Love Lucy it also looks very cool too. Has anyone noticed this about Hallmark Channel?

By big you mean stretching the image to fit your screen and making everybody look fat? Another thing they could be doing it especially for older TV shows is taking the image of 4:3 and cropping the top and bottom to fit current HDTV's that are in 16:9 which essentially are ruining the original aspect ratio.
I don't know what type of TV you have but does the image look zoomed in like it's cutting the top of the actors heads? |

One time not too long ago they were showing the Waltons and the tops were lopped off to fit wide-screen TVs but no other alterations were made. The faces were large and blurry and obviously there was image missing so it wasn't a great way to watch IMO.
They may have done something in the way of remastering some shows since then, so I don't know what other alterations are being referenced in the OP. |
