Default Anyone ever notice the train scene in the opening theme is played in reverse?

So this is random but, if you watch the opening theme from the later seasons that opens up with a view from a train, that clip is played in reverse. You can see on the left there is a truck going in reverse and if you look at the highway on the right, all of the cars are going the opposite way they should be. They must have shot the scene from the back of the train and wanted to make it look like it was the front of the train going forward, so they played it in reverse. Just thought it was interesting, I never noticed until now.

I'll tell you what I noticed about that scene; I think that was actually New Jersey, specifically Secaucus, New Jersey near the Eastern Spur of the New Jersey Turnpike, where New Jersey Transit's Secaucus Junction is today.

I was going to start a whole thread on this geographic blooper and how odd it was that Ann Marie would take a train from Brewster to Grand Central Terminal via Secaucus, but finding this thread saved me from doing that.

Maybe Steve M. would like to chime in on this.

Are you talking to me, or Hers&Hers&His?

Wow, my 1900th post, and I don't have a whole new thread about it.

I haven't seen that part of New Jersey from the tracks, but I have seen it from the Turnpike. BTW, that was used in the second season too.

Okay, here's another discussion on the location:

At this point, there's no denying that shot was filmed in Secaucus.

I had to laugh at the poster who said Marlo still does commercials for her dads favorite charity, St. Jude Hospital. Danny Thomas founded St. Jude Hospital. Marlo is just carrying on his legacy.

Confused

By the way, I noticed that if you look at the opening, in the scene where Ann Marie is startled to see herself in a crown in a store window, you can see the reflection of the "That Girl" kite in the store window glass.
it's about at 0:22 seconds if you watch on YouTube.

Crazy By Jove, the world is going backward!

While I've watched That Girl many times over the years, this latest round of watching (this time from the commercial DVDs) I did notice for the first time the truck and the traffic going backwards. Funny I never noticed this before and was going to mention it here but see someone else already beat me to it. They must have filmed from the back of the train as it went forward but when they ran the film backward it looks like the train is going to instead of leaving and the truck and traffic are now all going in reverse. Funny though after all these years of watching this show I never noticed this backward filming technique. Yes I did also notice for the first time the That Girl Kite reflection in the window, this is something else I just now noticed in my latest viewing. Maybe all the previous TV showings that I watched the quality was so poor the small details weren't as evident as they are now on the more higher definition DVDs.

I've always thought that train was on the wrong track.
