Alvin & the Chipmunks Sue Capitol Records for Royalties - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Talk about a squirrel chipmunk trying to a get a nut -- the creators of Alvin and the Chipmunks have sued Capitol Records for 4 years of royalties on the high-pitched hitmakers' songs.

In the lawsuit, Bagdasarian Productions -- the people who created Alvin and Co. back in 1958 -- say they conducted an audit of royalty payments made to them between 2005 and 2009 ... and their results showed the 'munks were getting shafted.

Bagdasarian Prods. say they own all the Chipmunk's performances -- including classics like "On Top of Old Smokey," "Polly Wolly Doodle," and "Swing Low Sweet Chariot."

According to the suit, they're supposed to be paid about .09 for each song that's reproduced or distributed -- OR about .02 per minute of playing time. It all adds up.

Bagdasarian is demanding a full accounting and damages for breach of contract.

I wished they put all of the episodes of The Alvin Show and Alvin and the Chipmunks on DVD!

It will never happen unless they remove all of the popular copywritten music. Only the public domain songs could remain.

if you ever look it up got the alvin & the chipmunks the alvin edition!! its got all the orignal epsidoes & songs its like 10 to 20 epsidoes!! its not the newer alvin & the chipmunks but the 1980 Anmited tv series!!

here it is but they wont like $60 to $70 bucks but

Please spell check

. Thats amazons direct asking price for a new copy, you can get a new copy from a private seller for $12 or even less off ebay. Used but new copy- even less.

Regardless, if some studio or a private fan of the series has the multi-millions to cover the royalty fees for the popular songs to release the complete series- that will be a happy day for chipmunk fans. Dont count your acorns!
