This always happens with TGG Direct titles. When I preordered season 1 of "In the Heat of the Night", on the release date it suddenly became "out of stock" but eventually shipped out about 2 weeks later.

Default "My Mother The Car: The Series arrived at my door today!

Why this isn't called the complete series baffles me, but that is not the only thing, but THE GOOD OUTWEIGHS all Stangeness, as like many others here, this is a series I thought I would never see released on DVD.

Lets give some facts for interested posters......

All 30 episodes in perfect color, All appear unedited running at 25 minutes, even mono sound, standard MGM lion roar at end.

No Chapter stops, 6 episodes each on 5 same artwork very primiative discs, no titles on discs, only listed on the back cover of odd box that houses two standard viva cases, one called volume one holding three discs and the other called volume two housing the remaining 10 episodes.....Why they couldn't just invest in one smaller and the more standard 5 disc holder is beyond me and why put them in a total lift up box?....of my over 1000 TV DVD collection, this is the only one I own that is housed like this.

No Special features............No Booklet, pretty much barely a note of its history in television.

Overall again I take this release and am happy but it almost, no it does remind me of an unauthorized release or MOD title with its no frills presentation, but for collectors we now can have it.

Be careful case one (the one with three discs) had disc 3 loose from mailing and it got quite a few scratches (which I wiped away) but went right to that disc (contains christmas episode as well) to check for quality, it appeared to play fine, I understand this is what happens either by amazon or store, but this is one release I highly doubt you will find in stores!

Reading this post. Never heard about this show. Looks like a quickie cash-in release for the holiday season. May wait and get this later on. I do like Dick Van Dyke.

That's Jerry Van Dyke, Dick's brother.

My Amazon order is preparing to ship. I'll see if this show is good or not. A blind buy for the holidays.

Hmmm my complete series set arrived. Looks like disc 3 of volume 1 was loose as well. Got some scratches too. Glad to read from previous post that I wasn't the only one to have this problem. I'll have to test the DVD out before I request a replacement.....

My "MMTC" arrived safely but my "In the Heat of the Night" season 5 had a disc that was loose (which has actually become standard now with DVDs---just about every season set I order now either has a loose disc or broken plastic pegs). Both titles are released by the same company, TGG Direct.

My Mother The Car: The Series is the first TGG Direct item I own. I played the scratched DVD and all the episodes played smoothly thank the lord.....You're lucky your copy wasn't loose and got scratched. But those other sets broken pegs and loose discs must be the norm for this DVD company.

Not a fan of the packaging. Very cheaply made and all the discs look homemade. If you do order MMTC be aware that one of the DVDs can be loose and get scratched!

But I'll admit TGG Direct seem to remaster these episodes. I was expecting faded & worn 16mm prints.

Glad bliss that your MMTC disc three played fine as my scratched one did as well but I was nervous.......glad you also agree with my longer post found way above that this looks like a bootleg unauthorized release, especially with the odd box, of over 1000 sets in my collection, this is the only one with this odd box and 2 cases when only one standard 5 disc case was needed. I think they may break it up since it is listed as volume one and two eventually when the strange boxes run out!

Lastly just an FYI I did expect pristine quality as the series was remastered years ago and had quite a healthy run on a Fox owned satellite channel that needed programming years ago if there wasn't a local Fox affliate in certain areas. I don't believe the channel or need exsists anymore. Also it got a select 6 episode run on another defunct cable channel called Trio about 10 years ago. So it was ready for DVD!

Love the avatar as i love "That Girl" own all the seasons!

I'll admit that I followed what you did, TeeVeeCloset, I gave that scratched disc a good wipe with a blue lint-free cloth and said a silent prayer watching a "marathon" (more like a test) of each episode and yes they did play without any skipping or freezing. Guess the disc was more surface scratches when it jiggled in the case from shipping.
And boy that big huge red box is so out of place on the shelf compared to my other TV-On-DVD sets indeed an odd & awkward packaging.
Thanks too for the info on the remastered history of this show. I assumed TGG Direct did all the work!

Love THAT GIRL glad to see other fans of the Miss Marlo classic

I want this set but Amazon keeps on saying it's "out of stock".
