Default Why is Direct TV dropping CBS stations?

This afternoon I was shocked to see a warning announcement that Direct TV was gonna drop local CBS stations from their lineup and I am just wondering if anyone has heard about this warning? I have been hearing this announcement all this week and I would like to know why Direct TV is doing this? Is it because Direct TV wants to demand more money from CBS stations or is it to expand the Direct TV channel lineup? I have always thought CBS was one of the most important channels because it's considered a local channel like ABC and NBC and The CW and FOX. I also checked to make sure any other channels were missing but CBS is the only channel that's missing now
What's the reason behind this and will CBS stations return soon?
Bestie

Direct TV dropped my local CBS station yesterday Bestie! After reading your post, I contacted Direct TV and complained! I hope all who read your post do the same. It is time to stop Direct TV from holding our TV's hostage! If they want to play that way, we need to drop THEM!! You are starting a movement Bestie!

Thank you so much for your reply my dear friend. I hope Direct TV listens to us TV fans and brings back CBS to it's lineup soon. CBS has such a great fanbase and I think it's really shocking to fans of Survivor NCIS The Price Is Right Let's Make A Deal and many of their other favorite shows that CBS would do this to them and Direct TV should offer an alternate CBS channel so people can watch their favorite CBS shows

I may be in the minority here, but I'm glad that DirecTV is dropping CBS, because it will cut into the network's profit margins and hopefully the network's corrupt administration of Leslie Moonves and company will finally be pink slipped and as a result, Moonves and company will finally get their just desserts for their constant mistreatment of Paget Brewster, A.J. Cook, and Thomas Gibson on Criminal Minds.

I hope Direct TV brings CBS back soon because my mom wants to see Survivor and The Amazing Race and I would like to return to my Let's Make A Deal routine. But I do wish Direct TV would've given CBS viewers an alternate channel just so people could watch their CBS sitcoms and more. Every morning I check my TV channel to see if CBS will return and no word on it yet

Thank you very much for answering me my friend. CBS stations should apologize to us TV fans and Direct TV subscribers by giving us free previews of movie channels and all other channels such as Boomerang for all this inconvience once CBS stations return to Direct TV. I find it shocking that CBS fans are so disappointed that they cannot see their favorite CBS shows due to this surprise and CBS should've never done this in the first place because it's an upset to CBS watchers
Do you agree?
What should CBS do about this surprise for CBS fans that have Direct TV?

Thank you very much for your awesome reply Patty. I keep checking my CBS channel every morning to see if it has returned to the channel lineup of Direct TV and nothing yet so far. I really miss being able to see my morning routine of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and also Let's Make A Deal as well

We don't watch many current TV shows but my husband does like NCIS, Blue Bloods and Criminal Minds, all on CBS.

Sooner or later someone is going to have to draw a line. Network wants more money from provider and gets viewers stirred up, channel gets more money, consumer's bill increases "due to higher cost of Network".

If fewer people can watch CBS the ad rates will eventually suffer, so it will be back. If people just acted as though they did not miss anything maybe some of this madness would stop. You pretty much know it will eventually return and everyone but the provider and Network get more money at viewer's expense.

I don't blame anyone for missing their shows, I blame the process that keeps getting repeated every couple of years. Paying so much for TV full of ads will eventually kill the traditional networks a piece at a time. Cable/Satellite as it exists now is a dinosaur waiting the end.

If I did not have only one choice of provider for internet speed sufficient to stream and a reasonable enough data limit, I'd stream everything. Things like SlingTV are early models that eventually someone is going to hit success with.

I'm very glad you agree with all of us Loaferman because I do miss seeing my Let's Make A Deal episodes and Mom wants to see CBS again so she can watch Blue Bloods and many of her other favorite CBS shows too. I hope CBS really listens to us TV fans and comes back to Direct TV really soon

I hope so too. I am pretty sure CBS will lose a lot of money on ads with so many fewer people watching. I think if these providers would just hold firm the channels would come back just for the advertising revenue. It is mostly extorting the viewers who will ultimately pay for the increase CBS gets.

Thank you for your wonderful reply to me Loaferman. CBS hasn't returned to my Direct TV lineup yet but I am still hoping for an update and I have been keeping up with this news by checking CBS every morning and I have found nothing yet so far. I bet a lot of CBS fans are really disappointed when they found out about this news but as for me because I have missed Let's Make A Deal I have been seeking solace by watching Deal Or No Deal reruns on GSN and I do hope Direct TV does listen to people by doing something nice to apologize for this trouble that they caused CBS fans during this time

When I woke up from my Saturday rest I got an awesome surprise when I turned on my TV. Direct TV has brought back CBS to it's lineup and it happened at 9:00PM PT and I thought I was imagining things when I was channel surfing and just out of curiosity I turned it to CBS and sure enough 48 Hours appeared and just seeing CBS return to the lineup makes me happy and I can't wait til Monday when I can finally see my Who Wants To Be A Millionaire episodes in the morning and of course Let's Make A Deal
I consider this a huge miracle for CBS fans who have Direct TV that they actually listened to us and brought CBS back to the Direct TV lineup
