I enjoyed both shows, and i don't think CD copied SBTB..but you must be one of those people who think SBTB is the king of teen shows and every other show copied them..CD was surrounded by the band--and school and couples were the other stories added in--it was about a band..SBTB was a school show..so i don't see it as being it as a copy..and even the characters aren't the same..i can honestly say only Lorena/Lisa are the same as rich, fashion girls..other than that, theres so similarity there...

i've noticed a similarity in all of tnbc's story lines, but wasn't it once said there are only like eight original story lines out there?

Default If there wasn't Saved By the Bell...

We wouldn' t have enjoyed California Dreams as much as people did. I feel that Saved By the Bell introduced us to California Dreams. I love Saved By the Bell(Zach, Kelly, Jesse, Lisa, Slater, and Screech only) California is not better or worse. It was a good show and I loved the singing. I loved the songs. And I liked it because it was more diverse. Especially later on. Yes, they had the token black but they also had an asian girl and a hispanic. I think comparing it to Saved By the Bell is ridiculus CD holds their own.

I agree that CD was NOT a copy of SBTB... although many of the series created after CD did have the same storylines as CD and SBTB.... but CD started out to be totally different than CD b/c it was centered around the Garrison family and their teenagers' band that held practices in the family garage... so the original plot of this show was to be completely opposite from SBTB... but after re-casting and re-working the show it turned from that original plot, but it still dealt with the band, etc.... so it was still very different from SBTB

I remember watching California Dreams with my mom when I grew older and I thought the show was very nice but it wasn't until I got a California Dreams DVD that this show interested me again and when I watched it again my mom really loved the songs and funny scenes of the episodes. It's really a shame that you don't see teen sitcoms on TV like California Dreams anymore because sitcoms aimed at teens are really fun to watch. I think starting with California Dreams and continuing with teen sitcoms such as Hang Time City Guys USA High and One World Peter Engel really had a smart idea to create sitcoms with a storyline that appealed to teens and beginning with Saved By The Bell Peter Engel is really considered to be the king of NBC's teen sitcoms and California Dreams proved it
