AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) magazine has a small article about The Monkees.
We all could get into a discussion about how we got here so fast, a magazine directed at people over 60 is now referring to the aging rock stars and performers who were young (along with a lot of us) during the 60s and 70s. However, the link below should lead to the article but from what I saw it is not exactly like the one in the actual printed magazine. (A scan of that page is attached and I hope I am not breaking any copyright rules. I am not making any money off of this). But you should be able to read the part in which Peter Tork says that Davey Jones was the "Smartest , most talented, most creative, and maybe the most insightful of all of us. He had the best pitch, the best rhythmic time." Well, I have heard it said that though Davy was the heartthrob of the group and was popular than the rest of the group just for that, it actually was Micky who gave the Monkees their distinct sound because of the way that he sung certain songs. The other two, Tork and Nesmith are not recognized as much for the songs they sang. So what is your input on this Monkees fans? http://www.aarp.org/entertainment/mu...ood-times.html |
