Default NBC boss: If Coach revival works, ALF is next

http://deadline.com/2015/08/nbc-live...tt-1201498942/

NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt defended TV’s reboot craze, saying the Coach revival is “a way to do another variation on a family show with, I think, a truly talented star and a great showrunner and a presold title. And if that works, then ALF: The Series is next.”

The problem is that nobody asked for a Coach reboot, so high!y doubtful many people would watch it.

They're killing Christine off. I'm not watching it.

Not to mention Jerry Van Dyke probably won't be a part of the show either. Craig T. Nelson is 71 years old, it's just not going to work. I think the people who run NBC are working for another network trying to sabotage it from the inside. They really have no clue.

On the other hand, an ALF revival wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Puppets never age!

NBC has scrapped plans for a Coach revival. So I guess the ALF revival is off as well.

Why would NBC want to reboot/revive one of the most hated series in its history? If I really had to reboot ALF, it would have to be as a single-camera comedy and not a multi-camera one. Also, I wouldn't even think about bringing back any of ALF's original castmembers to do any revival series, since they really hated working on the (original) show.

Just for comparisons' sake:

David McCallum, of The Man From U.N.C.L.E., was 70 was NCIS started, and it became a long runner (12 seasons*).

Ed O'Neill, of Married... With Children, was 63 when Modern Family premiered, and that ran for 6 seasons*.

George Segal, of Just Shoot Me!, was aged 63 when JSM! premiered, and 69 when JSM! ended, and was 79 when The Goldbergs (which has 2 seasons*) premiered on ABC.

Cloris Leachman, of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, was 84 when Raising Hope premiered, and was 88 when RH ended.

*- Current show; its number of seasons as of this writing.

"Stay Safe"? More like "Stay Sad".

But will ALF be CGI or a puppet?

Welcome to the board, Stay Golden

I wish they would bring ALF back. That was a good show.

Desperation at its best!

Can't producers come up with new ideas, just like they did back then?

Luckily the "Coach" reboot was cancelled. I really don't think they should do reboots on certain shows. I mean "Coach" ratings were pretty bad when it was cancelled. So bringing it back was a bad move. Plus you can't just kill off characters people love. Alf still had pretty good ratings when it was cancelled so a reboot might work. That being said I don't think Alf would do very well on broadcast networks. If done it should be on cable or a streaming service.

It's dead in the water.

TRANSLATION FOR THOSE OF YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND:
AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!!
It's old news and doesn't need to happen again.

Producers need to stop being so lazy with all this ressurrecting of old shows and come up with new stuff like they used to when television was great in the 70's and 80's!!!
Some of the new sitcoms on ABC are not bad but they lack the live audience response. It's almost like watching a movie and is too stodgy.

I didn't know they were gonna do it without Christine. Kinda sad they killed the sequel show. I dunno if Alf woulda been the same with a different family too. Of course they weren't gonna use the same family. They used different characters in the movie so obviously they didn't wanna come back.
