At the end of the credits of Kojak, it says, "Based on a book by Selwyn Raab"?

Who is Selwyn Raab? And what's this book he wrote that inspired Kojak?

I don't know what he had to do with Kojak, but Selwyn Raab is a featured speaker on the Mobsters TV series. He was a long time investigative reporter for the New York Times and has written many books about the Mafia.
