NBC Picks Up "Chicago Justice" to Series
NBC Eyeing "Chicago P.D." Spinoff "Chicago Law"
by Vlada Gelman January 13, 2016 On the heels of a "Chicago P.D." episode that introduced an Assistant State’s Attorney (Maureen Sebastian), NBC is eyeing a third spinoff of the Windy City franchise: "Chicago Law". Executives at the Peacock network have had early conversations with executive producer Dick Wolf about an offshot set in the legal world, our sister site Variety reports. “We could plant the seeds for some characters on P.D.,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke told the site. However, there is no script or writer attached to the project, which is only in the conceptual stage at this time. http://tvline.com/2016/01/13/chicago...icago-law-nbc/ |

Fourth "Chicago" Show Officially in Development at NBC
January 21, 2016 by Kate Stanhope NBC "Chicago" trilogy but may soon become a quartet. A fourth installment in the growing drama franchise is officially in development at the network, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. "Dick Wolf has been responsible for some of the biggest hits in NBC history, including SVU and the current three Chicago dramas, Fire, P.D. and Med," NBC's president of entertainment Jennifer Salke said Thursday in a statement. "The Chicago universe will continue to grow as we are in active development on Chicago Law." The news comes a week after Wolf confirmed "there have been discussions" about a fourth entry at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour while promoting the other three series. "It would be obviously short-sighted, especially after last week, not to be kicking the tires on what that would be," Wolf told reporters, pointing to the previous week's three-show crossover. "It would probably be in the legal system." At the time, Wolf said the plan would be to introduce characters for the possible "Law" spinoff on other "Chicago" series, most notably "Chicago P.D." "Would I like to do it? Of course. ... This is a dream come true. To have these three shows operating this synergistically is beyond my expectations," he said. "My instinct is always to double-down, but there are many masters to serve and a lot of people have to agree." Wolf currently has four scripted series on NBC's schedule with the "Chicago" shows as well as "Law & Order: SVU", which is in its 17th season. This would be the first time the prolific producer has five scripted dramas on one network if "Chicago Law" goes to series, and if "SVU" and "Chicago Med" are renewed. "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." were already renewed back in November. Wolf also has the unscripted series, "You the Jury", at NBC. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...go-show-858004 |

NBC Picks Up New "Chicago" Entry, "Chicago Justice", to Series
by Nellie Andreeva 5/12/16 Dick Wolf’s "Chicago" procedural franchise is expanding to four series. The legal offshoot "Chicago Justice", whose characters were introduced on the "Chicago PD" episode last night, has been picked up to series by NBC, the first new drama series order at the network this season. "Chicago Justice", toplined by Philip Winchester, revolves around Chicago State’s Attorney’s team of prosecutors and investigators as they navigate heated city politics and controversy head-on while fearlessly pursuing justice. The planted spinoff episode of "Chicago P.D." last night won the 10 PM hour with a 1.4 rating in 18-49 and 6.8 million viewers (Live+same day), up a tick in the demo from last week. http://deadline.com/2016/05/chicago-...es-1201754654/ |
