okay my latest mission is figuring out the name of a short lived TGIF sitcom. its been bothering me literally for years. It had an all African AMerican cast and took place in a cityish area. in one episode, if i remember correctly, the character buys a record called "shoot your mother" or something to that degree. When his mom sees it she tosses it out the window but it survives the fall by the local junkyard and i believe is found by his bumbling yet loveable friend.
anyone remember this show or am i nuts? |

I vaguely remember that show. It starred Doug E. Doug who also played on Cosby, and in the movie Cool Runnings. It was called "Where I Live" and I believe came out around 1992, or 1993. The only episode I remember was the one you mentioned because I remember thinking it was strange that he would have a record with that title on a TGIF lineup. That episode didn't really seem like family programming to me.

"Where I Live" aired as part of the TGIF line up in Mar-May 1993.
In Aug it returned, having been moved to Tuesday night and then vanished until Nov when it aired on Saturdays. By December, it was gone for good. |

You want to hear some irony. I remember this one episode, the Doug E. Doug character needs money, and is selling his things. One of his things is a video of the Bill Cosby movie "Ghost Dad". He said "It came with the Jello." And then he does a Bill Cosby impression. How ironic.
