it was originally a half-hour and ran in first-run syndication then NBC picked it up and they expanded it to 90 minutes then it went to Prism which was a cable network at the time (the 80s) and became an hour.

yea, but SCTV didn't have very many musical numbers (every once in a while they did but it would always be a part of the sketch-for instance if a sketch was set in a nightclub they have a singer who was a guest on the show performing) and the episodes didn't have a host.
I read somewhere that when it was a half-hour a lot of stations would show it right before or right after SNL-I remember the NBC affiliate in my city used to show it right after. |
