Default Nick at Nite Request: "The Hogan Family"

Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution for Nick at Nite to become the exclusive basic cable home to the hit 1986-1991 sitcom "The Hogan Family" starting this Fall.

Created by Charlie Hauck, "The Hogan Family" debuted 30 years ago today as a starring vehicle for Valerie Harper, who aptly portrayed Valerie Hogan, mother to 3 teenage boys living in Chicago, Illinois: Dave (Jason Bateman) and fraternal twins Willie (Danny Ponce) and Mark (Jeremy Licht).

Valerie's husband, Mike (Josh Taylor), was away at work as an airline pilot, so the job of raising their 3 teenage boys fell mostly to her; in Spring 1987, after the 1st season of 32 half-hour episodes was completed, Valerie Harper was abruptly fired. When the show returned for its 2nd season, her character was killed in a tragic car accident, leaving the maternal role to Sandy Duncan, cast as Mike's sister Sandy, who helped Mike raise the teenagers.

Occasionally, during its 5-year run, "The Hogan Family" dealt with several serious issues, such as when Dave decided to get Condoms for Sex towards the end of Season 1 (which he didn't go through with at the last minute), and when Dave and his friend Burt (Steve Witting) discovered their friend Rich (Tom Hodges) had AIDS--a battle Rich lost 3 months afterwards.

Tentatively, Nick at Nite shall welcome "The Hogan Family" to its regular lineup with a week-long marathon showcasing all 110 episodes of the show spread into 7 nights starting September 5, 2013, after which "The Hogan Family" shall begin airing weeknights from 9-10 p.m. ET/PT

This is 2016! But in 2013, at that time Hogan Family did not even air in Nick at Nite at all. Since Nick at Nite already had upfront today and I was hoping for any acquisitions, but as of tonight, there is not any. Just lousy sentence in article saying that Nick at Nite ranked #2 most watched in females age 18-49. But I do appreciate and agree with you that Hogan Family is a better acquisition fit for Nick at Nite, but in reality there is no acquisitions.

Do you mean ABC Family? I think they aired reruns of it for a minute. The Hogan Family wasn't an ABC show. It aired on NBC and then later on in it's run on CBS.

At the time I was a tape trader who only collected sitcoms that aired in network tv with commercials
