Eek Lucille Carter Meets Lucille Ball

Season 6 had that surreal episode about Lucille Carter meeting Lucille Ball and entering a lookalike contest. When I was a kid it totally confused the hell out of me and I couldn't figure it out. It actually scared me and gave me a creepy feeling.

I haven't seen this one yet, but the premise reminds me of the Lucy Show episode where a guy played by Robert Goulet enters a Goulet lookalike contest. Wasn't there a '50s episode of The Danny Thomas Show where Danny Williams meets Danny Thomas?

I think practically every series of the '60s/early '70s that lasted multiple seasons had at least one episode where an actor plays dual roles -- Gilligan's Island, Bonanza, My Three Sons, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Green Acres, Gunsmoke...

The Doris Day Show: Doris Martin met Doris Day at a movie studio. I a similar vein, the "Lucy Dates Dean Martin" episode of The Lucy Show featured both Dean Martin and a fictional lookalike, as did the Robert Goulet episode you mention, the Sid Caesar episode, and the Here's Lucy episode with Van Johnson. And Lucille Ball herself played a dual role in the Untouchables episode of TLS, so LCMLB wasn't even a first for her. The only difference is that in the later episode the dual role she played was herself. And remember the opening credits to That Girl?

I remember "Lucy Carter" meeting Lucielle Ball but it may not be the exact same one you are referring to. I don't nrecall anything about a look-alike contest. It could mean that there were two different episodes using the same type of plot or one was a rehash of the other. I would have to find out.

From what I recall Lucy Ball met "Lucy Carter" (or the character that Lucy Ball Played on TV), but I remember it was when "Mame" came out as a movie (early 1970s) and Lucy Carter was starstruck and wanted to meet Lucy Ball and ended up getting into Lucielle Balls home and ended up annoying her and accidentally hitting her on the butt with a paddle or tennis racket and at the end of the scene Lucy Ball hit Lucy Carter on the butt with the racket.
(I may mention this in another thread since it is sort- of relevant: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/...d.php?t=249090. )

I've now seen the Lucille Ball meets Lucille Carter episode. I thought Lucy was pretty darn effective in how she played it.

I saw both the Lucille Ball and Doris Day meet their look a likes. What is amazing how acting can make you think they are someone else. That is their tv character. Both the actresses played a bit put off to meet their lookalike and the character was so easy going and much more friendly.

I remember that one. Lucy's one episode friend was Robert Goulet playing a nobody, and she convinced him to enter a Robert Goulet lookalike contest. Of course he eventually enters the contest and has to win because, after all, he is Robert Goulet. The contest itself is never shown but he loses to some guy named Arthur Finster. Then at the very end, Robert Goulet comes out in a different outfit and in a bad British accent says, "Hello, I'm Arthur Finster."
