Remember the ORIGINAL closing for "Mayberry RFD"
That featured Sam(Ken Berry) and Mike(Buddy Foster)fixing the broken window in the shed and resuming playing catch?

Some Mayberry RFD prints' closings have just a plain blue background with a drawing of pine trees in the corner (sound familiar?
).

Most of the season 3 episodes have that closing in syndication. The first 3 or 4 episodes of the season still have the one with the blue background though.

You can tell this closing was made much earlier than the 3rd season, since Buddy Foster is still small in it. It'd be nice to know why they decided to change it in syndication. There are episodes toward the end of AGS that use Andy and Opie returning from the fishin' hole with the closing credits, and I think those are lost for good. I remember seeing those in syndication years ago.

I'd like to see Andy and Opie return from the fishing hole. I wonder if youtube has it?

1. The closing theme was slightly altered. 2. The Director, etc. credits were moved from the end to the beginning of the episode. 3. The other regulars in the episode were shown, with episode photos, before the closing credits. |

Here's a You Tube link to those closing credits, from a Season 3 episode:
