Default Rewatching Three's A Crowd

Jack has some really funny bits in TAC, but there is such a disconnect between Three's Company and this show. (Yes, I know that is what they were going for---something totally different, but still.)

It's weird to watch Jack "grow up" overnight. He spent 8 years playing around like a kid, and then in TAC he's being berated by his father-in-law and discussing impotence with Vicky. Just seems like a drag in comparison to Three's Company.

Also Vicky isn't terrible, but she's not especially funny or memorable, and her father is just an annoying jerk.

Actually Jack became mature once he got the Bistro in season 7

That's true. He did mature professionally, but otherwise he was still getting caught up in crazy schemes and love affairs. Even Mr. Angelino as his boss at the restaurant was more zany than Mr. Bradford. Mr. Bradford was a heavy jerk.

It's said that men lose their sense of humor once they become romantically involved with a woman lol

So that's probably why Jack wasn't funny on TAC

Vicky didn't seem like the type of woman Jack would go for.

I saw TAC originally as a kid so to me I just saw it as a natural progression from Three's Company and to this day find it as a funny follow-up to TC, I didn't feel James Bradford acted as a jerk towards Jack in fact he still had some respect for him.

I'm not a "Jack and Janet should have ended up together" kind of person, but I think Jack would have been funnier with someone like Janet, who could be both sweet and feisty.

I always wondered why Vicky never stood up for Jack and never told her father to butt the heck out of their lives. If my partner allowed their parent to constantly interfere and berate me, my beef would be with my partner, not the in-law.

My Dad told me "A son is a son until he takes a wife, but a daughter is a daughter all her life". It's just socially acceptable for a daughter to remain close with her parents after getting into a relationship, but not so much for a guy to do the same. Just seems to be that way. I'm sure Jack never questioned Vicky's relationship with her father, and Vicky never had to confront her father about his treatment of Jack.

Mr. Bradford was around too much to be Vicky's Dad. Now if he was jack's boss instead and another man played Vicky's dad then maybe he would not have been as annoying
