Almost 30 years after the murder of the son of America's Most Wanted host John Walsh, new evidence shows that infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer may have killed the 6-year-old boy, an investigation by The Miami Herald suggests.
Several witnesses, who were interviewed about Adam Walsh's abduction from a Hollywood, Fla., mall on July 27, 1981, say Dahmer was not only at the mall the day of the abduction, but that he was seen with Adam that day. Several witnesses said Dahmer had access to a blue van that fit the description of the getaway car, and one witness claimed he saw Dahmer force a crying boy into the back of a blue van. At the time of Adam's murder, Dahmer was living in nearby Miami Beach. Detectives questioned Dahmer about the case, and took him at his word when he said he had "nothing to do with it." Adam's severed head was found on Aug. 10, 1981, some 120 miles away from the mall where he was abducted. The rest of his remains were never found. Ottis Toole was officially named Adam's killer in 2008, after confessing to the murder on his death bed in 1996. Toole had confessed to the crime a number of times starting in 1983, but he repeatedly recanted those confessions. Over the years, Toole took responsibility for more than 200 homicides — many of which, it was discovered, he had nothing to do with. Dahmer was arrested in 1991 on charges of decapitation, necrophilia and cannibalism after 11 severed heads were found in his Milwaukee apartment. He later confessed to those murders, as well as six others. He was bludgeoned to death by a fellow inmate in prison in 1994 at age 34. John Walsh would go on to lobby for new laws for missing children in 1982 and 1984. He also launched America's Most Wanted in 1988, which has since led to 1,100 captures as of January. He did not comment on the Herald's report. http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/03/2...sited-the.html |

I dont buy it myself, Otis I can beleive a drifiter that spent his whole life just about in Florida. Dahmer spent his whole adult life in Milwaukee seems a bit far fetched hed be in Hollywood Florida at that time.

I don't believe it, either. Aside from the all the witnesses' bunk (I think every last one of those testimonies is a crock of utter sh*t), what astounds me the most about this story is that LE continued to take Otis Toole (of all people) at his word for so many years.

And in the back of my mind, I've always thought it was odd Adam's skull was found some distance from where he disappeared. I suppose somebody could have put it there, but for what reason, and where are the rest of his remains? |

From what I understand, this head is still in evidence. I would think that DNA testing could be done on it to prove whether or not it's Adam. As far as Ottis or Dahmer, I've never been comfortable in believing either of them as a suspect. But like wiseguy said, I'd hate for old wounds to be opened.

I always thought that whenever John Walsh weighed in on the subject, he indicated that he was positive of Toole's guilt in this case. Please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken here. It makes me wonder how he could possibly be so certain, if the investigation into his son's abduction really was this shoddy. Is it possible that he had info that others just weren't privy to?

It would be pretty wild to see the Adam Walsh case turn on Charley Project. |

Personally I've always got the impression that all parties involved wanted this case over and done with. I honestly don't think Otis did it and I'm not 100% convinced Dhamer was involved either.
In either instance I think the case is far from being closed. The ID wouldn't hold up in any court, neither would Otis confessions, etc. After reading that article and weighing how the case was handled I personally don't feel that was Adam Walsh. But that's my opinion. |

Another thing I really admire about John Walsh is this: him and Reve had three more children after Adam's death, but John (to this day) says he has four children. That is really touching. I know some parents of deceased children don't include them in their count, but I like that John does.
