Default Ponch singing in the battle of the bands!!

OMG!! Ok I love Ponch with all my heart but singing isn't his strong point! He sure can dance! He really is a GREAT dancer!! I mean DAMN that boy can move his hips, and those tight pants ( oh the fantasy) LOL!!! But singing Celebration , one of the corniest songs ever!!! I mean it was funny! Hubby and I were ROFL!! When the show started and it was obvious he was going to sing at one point in the show, we were like is there ANYTHING this guy doesn't do?

OMG and another ROFL was Grossie showing the difference between New wave dancing and punk dancing! And the captain busting him!!

Really good ep though! I think one of the best in a long time! The girl singer and her band really were pretty good and even the punk band was OK!! Ponch and his band, not so much! But he redeemed himself a bit with the sexy dancing!

Yeah I remember seeing the episode first as a kid and thought it was cool but looking back it's hysterical, I mean you're right about Ponch, he can do anything the storyline dictates, the dancing was a bit much and his singing voice is probably good on Karoake night but don't quit your day job Ponch, LOL!

On another note, bonniegirl62, did you ever watch Erik Estrada when he was doing the reality show The Surreal Life? it was him along with other D-list celebs like Vanilla Ice, Gary Coleman among others.

There was an episode of The Surreal Life in which the gang go to a bar and Erik just happend to sing karaoke that night to what else, "Celebration" of course.

Yes he did remind me of a Karaoke act. Or a wedding singer! LOL!!!!

Another thing he didn't really fit in a battle of the band place where the kids came to see New wave and Punk. They would have really thought he was corny with his red shirt and really tight pants singing Celebration!

He really shouldn't be expected to be able to do everything. He's a CHP cop not a superhero! LOL!!!

And it's only because it's in Ponch's nature that he would naturally do his crazy antics, I mean we would never see Jon get up and sing country songs like for example he could have with that one country singing lady from a previous episode.

That is part of his charm. Ponch and Erik's real personality. Outgoing and very friendly and doesn't mind if he looks silly at times!

LOL That he sang "Celebration" on the reality show! And selling land on infomercials !!!!

Thought I'd bring this thread up again because this ep. was just on the other day!

Nothing new I need to add really. Nice seeing my boy shaking those hips!

I'm assuming Joto means maricon? That is what my husband called him when he saw that ep too! LOL!!! He calls him that (or gay) when he's dancing, in a speedo etc .to try to piss me off! Looking back at the 70's- early 80's a lot of the men's wear did seem kind of gay! SO TIGHT!!!!!

I just thought it was corny as h*ll !!! Singing Celebration at a NewWave/Punk Rock club in very tight Disco clothes! And my sweetheart has a lot of talents, but singing isn't one of them!
