I was poking through Google News Archives a few years ago, when I found an interesting report about the show from The Pittsburgh Press when it premiered. Co-creators Frank Dungan & Jeff Stein admitted that they had never been to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the show is set. In fact, none of the scenes on the show were ever shot in Pittsburgh, They said they chose Pittsburgh as the setting, because they have the Penguins, because it was a city with seasons and sporting activities, and because it was a city going through a resurgence. At the time the series premiered, Pittsburgh was named by Rand-McNally as the most liveable city in America. |
