Kathy Najimy is joining "Unforgettable" as a series regular.

Najimy will play Rachel, a whip-smart, unflappable former street cop who is tough when she needs to be, but has the political chops/ambition to get her the gig as head of the Major Cases Department of the NYPD.

Rachel believes in the divide between boss and the people who work for her — so she won’t be joining Carrie, Al and the crew for beers after work — but she misses the action of being on the street and, to the extent possible for someone in her position, will roll her sleeves up and work a case when need be.

"Unforgettable", which is moving from CBS to A&E for its fourth season, revolves around a female detective (Poppy Montgomery) who remembers everything except the day her sister was murdered.

The show was canceled after its freshman run on CBS and revived months later for a summer run, where it excelled in a period with reduced ratings expectations.

After thriving for two seasons during the traditionally lower-rated summer period, CBS canceled the show for a second time in October as the network expanded its summer strategy with louder, more expensive fare like Stephen King adaptation "Under the Dome", Halle Berry starrer "Extant" and James Patterson's upcoming "Zoo".

A&E in February revived "Unforgettable" for a fourth season consisting of 13 episodes, which went into production this week and will premiere later this year.

Castmembers Dylan Walsh and James Hiroyuki Liao are returning to the show, joined by newcomers La La Anthony and E.J. Bonilla.
