Default The special effects for this show was pretty bad

After watching the series on Antenna TV for 3 seasons so far I can see that they used some crappy special effects.

I am no tech wizard but I could have done better special effects than they did for anyone on this show especially VICKI. She is supposed to be a robot with those type of low budget effects?

It is not even a matter of them being in the 80s and no having the technology we have now because I have seen several shows and movies from as far back as the 50s that had better special effects.

Maybe they felt they did not need to try so hard since they were in first run syndication with a decent fan base of viewers. This show is not the greatest but maybe I would have liked it better if I started watching it as a kid. Watching it as an adult makes me just want to kick the screen.

I don't dislike the show but I do find it stupid and corny at times. I prefer this show to any of the reality garbage airing these days.

Hopefully it stays on Antenna TV for a bit and gets a better schedule. I don't recall ever seeing this show in syndication so this is good exposure. Maybe new seasons of the show will be released on DVD because the old DVDs may get some sales due to it being on Antenna TV.

Its just like you said, it was a syndicated low budget TV show that the producers werent going to break the bank in bringing quality SFX to a kids show.

Cool

The fact that this show was in first run syndication means they were working with a much smaller budget than a network show would have. That is why the special effects appear "cheesy". But to me that is part of the charm of the show!
