Dick Van Dyke to Join Jerry Van Dyke on "The Middle"

Dick Van Dyke has booked a guest-starring role on "The Middle", EW has learned exclusively.

The veteran actor will play Frankie’s (Patricia Heaton) uncle, Dutch Spence. Charming, fun, and the carpet-cleaning king of Nevada, Dutch is also the estranged brother of Tag (recurring guest star Jerry Van Dyke).

Old rivalries are sparked when the brothers reunite and attempt to put their differences behind them after so many years.

His appearance on "The Middle" will mark one of the rare times the Van Dyke brothers will be together on TV again.

I wish Dick and Jerry would have worked together more over the years. Some of my favorite Dick Van Dyke Show episodes are the ones in which Jerry guest starred as Stacey Petrie!

First Look: TV Icon Dick Van Dyke Visits his Brother Jerry on "The Middle"

Fans of the legendary Dick Van Dyke will flip their ottoman when he guest-stars on ABC’s "The Middle" — and we’ve got your first look at his “reunion” with real-life brother Jerry.

In the sixth-year sitcom’s April 22 episode, 'Two of a Kind', the Hecks get caught in the middle of a long-standing family feud when Frankie’s Uncle Dutch (played by Dick Van Dyke, 89) contacts her dad, Tag (Jerry Van Dyke, 83), in a bid to bury the hatchet with his estranged younger brother.

As seen in the photo, it appears that at least a bit of sibling revelry is on tap, as the Van Dykes engage in a rare on-camera reunion.

Elsewhere in the episode: When a fearful Sue receives her first detention ever for being caught going off campus for lunch, she seeks advice from Axl on how to survive the ordeal unscathed.

Yes the picture of the two look great. They both look in good health. I read a few months ago, Dick was in a car accident. So glad he recovered and can make the appearance. I may indeed see the episode too.
