I read somwhere that Bernard Fein and Albert S Ruddy produced two versions of the original pilot. one with a laugh track and one without. Unfortunately, when CBS aired the two pilots to test audiences, the pilot containing the laugh track rated higher than the one without, so the series was doomed to use a laugh track when production started in the fall. Does anyone know if that version of the pilot without the laugh track exist? I've never seen it and the only one that's commercially available is the one containing the canned laughter. Did CBS discard or destroy that version of the pilot? (or does it still exist somewhere, collecting dust)

I grew up with comedies having a laugh track and prefer it that way. Yes, some shows have it overdone, but I don't feel that was the case with Hogan's Heroes.
