Default Who played a better Roger?

Roger C. Carmel or Richard Deacon? I haven't watched this show enough to form an opinion, so I'd like to hear what other people have to say! And why was Roger C. Carmel replaced?

Definitely Roger C. Carmel (although I like Richard Deacon very much)

DEFINETALY Carmel!Deacon was obviously miscast. And he was replace because when NBC decided to renew the show for a 2nd season, they wanted the cast to take a salary freeze. They all agreed to except Carmel.

Cool

Roger C. Carmel was by far the best Roger. The cast apparently had raises writtrn into their contract for the second season but were asked to work for the same pay as season one. They all agreed accept Mr. Carmel. He decided to stand on principal ans insist upon his raise. so he was let go and replaced by "Deac". I love Richard Deacon as an actor and thought he was perfectly cast in roles like "Fred Rutherford" on "Beaver" and "Mel Cooley" on "TDVDS". However he was miscast in this role and didn't have nearly the same chemistry with the rest of the cast that Mr. Carmel had in the first season.

I figured Roger C. Carmel would be the more favored one! He is the one I remember more! I like this show, but like I said I never saw it that much! METV had it on before, wish it still was. It was actually on before I got METV! It's been only about two years that Time warner cable carried METV! I was visiting my friend on a Sunday who has DirecTV. Mothers in Law was on. I was like OH wow, mothers in law, what channel is this? And she said METV. I was like Oh I get a cool old station called Antenna but I don't think I get METV, so I called Time Warner and asked and they said they didn't provide it. Well I guess a lot of people like myself requested it and they added it. Thank God.

If you really love this series, it's available in its entirety on DVD now, and you can order it from Amazon via the link at the top of this webpage. $30 is a very reasonable price for 56 episodes plus a whole extra disc of extras, and you can find it cheaper from other sellers, most likely on EBay.

To answer your question posted here, I definitely have to go with Roger C. Carmel as well. He brought a great presence to the role that Richard Deacon just didn't have, IMO. Deacon was great in most everything he did, but he seemed to be miscast here.

Roger C. Carmel was a much more interesting actor. He was the only actor that the creators of Star Trek brought back to reprise his role in that series. Richard Deacon was more of a comic foil. Carmel was better in every way. Unfortunately Carmel had drug problems which eventually led to his premature death and some say his leaving The Mothers-in-Law.
