I was watching the 48 Hours Mystery series on CBS Reality the other night when this case was aired. I use the plural because in total the defendant was tried three times for the murder of his wife Kimberly, son Brad,7,and Jill,5. The Prosecution argued that blood spatter from his T-shirt proved that he was present when a gun was fired. The Defence countered that Camm had an airtight alibi playing basketball at a nearby church. DNA from two further suspects was gathered at the crime scene and an ex-con named Charles Boney was indicted and found guilty of the murders at the second trial as co-conspirator. At the third trial Camm was found not guilty of all charges, having spent 13 years in jail in total.
I know that Camm is now regarded as an innocent man in the eyes of the law. Does anyone have anything to add regarding this case, did they know him or know of him and his home town of Georgetown,Indiana? I'd be interested to know what the general feeling was as to his guilt or innocence, bearing in mind the libel laws of course.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Camm |
