Default Brady Bunch episode

Reposted from old boards:

Posted by theshark8777:

The episode where Ross dreamt he was in the Brady Bunch was a great episode. They made fun of different things that happen in the real Brady Bunch. And Florence Henderson kept saying, there's nothing like that 27th cup of coffee in the morning. This show could have made it if it was given the time!

Posted by DJM77:

The Ross character was played by Christopher Daniel Barnes who also played Greg Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. I thought that was interesting.

Just some interesting info:

This series was created by Gary David Goldberg, the same person who created Family Ties and Spin City. Also, Family Ties and Day by Day aired on the same night, Sunday.

Family Ties at 7:00 (Central)
Day by Day at 7:30

Posted by TJ:

Another connection with Family Ties is that Steven and Andrew Keaton appeared on an episode of Day By Day.

"Day by Day" was a spinoff of "Family Ties" but unfortunately wasn't that great a show though I enjoyed the work of Christopher Barnes as "Ross". It is funny how the series' most memorable episode was centered around a "Brady Bunch" Marathon! Having Barnes play with original Brady's Maureen McCormick(a preggy Marcia!), Chris Knight, Mike Lookinland, Robert Reed and Florence Henderson was a great treat. When he played the part of "Greg Brady" in the movies this episode sort of gave him a sense of legitmacy to be there! It was fun to see those 'origiaal Bradys' spoof their characters!

How was it a spinoff of Family Ties? The Day By Day cast members didn't appear on Family Ties, it was the other way around. They only had that 1 crossover episode.

Hi TJ,
I'm going on memory here. I believe "Day by Day" (which was also created by Gary David Goldberg) was 'billed" as a "Family Ties" spinoff (in press) even if they didn't use an eppie of FT for launching purposes and only had the one cross over episode. I'll see if I can find any info from TV Guide about that. If I do I will post it.

On Family Ties there had been episode where "Andrew" (and Alex!) attend nursery school (one of my favorites!), but they used a different school. That would have been an ideal episode to introduce "Day by Day" (make it a double episode) but perhaps "Day by Day" wasn't in development yet.

Oh well just another thought from an armchair TV producer!

The Brady Bunch episode is the only one I ever watched! It was very funny! Also it was broadcast years before the movies came out,so it was really original! Christopher Barnes is such a good actor. He is very charming. I hope he can continue acting and get some really good roles!

Default I used to have that episode

When I was about 11 I taped that one. This show aired on Lifetime for a while and I loved this episode. When Marcia (Maureen MCcormick) came downstairs with a fat stomach, I did not know that Marcia was messing around and got pregnant. I didn't get that joke untill years later. Another funny part was how Florence Henderson was always getting coffee.

Carol: There's nothing like a cup of coffee in the morning.
Later on.....
Carol: There's nothing Like a second cup of coffee in the morning.
Mike: That's your third, dear. You drank mine.
Later on.................
Carol: There's nothing like a 27th cup of coffee.
Later on............
Carol: I could sure use another cup of coffee!

Chuck: "I'm not cutting my hair... it's sacred!"

Mike Brady: "I don't want you to cut it... you've gotta get a perm! All the Brady men have perms; it keeps us from getting our hair caught in the spokes while we work on our bicycles!"

Just converted my copy of this episode to DVD! Since we are unlikely to ever see Day by Day on official DVDs and it should have been an extra on a Brady Bunch set, anyways.

That would have been far out!

There's so much Brady stuff out there, not even considering the spin-off shows.

So much could have been gathered for the Complete Series set.

Does anybody know why in the "opening grid" a "fake Cindy" was used instead of Susan Olsen? I mean, Barry Williams (Greg) and Eve Plumb (Jan) didn't appear on Day by Day either but at least it was them. I wonder if Susan was asking for too much money to use her likeness. Or this was "payback" of sorts for Susan not appearing in A Very Brady Christmas (she claimed that she was away on her honeymoon at the time the film was being made).
