Earl in prison - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I used to love the show My Name Is Earl with seasons one and two, but I recently bought season 3 and so far it STINKS! I've watched the first three episodes, and I could barely get through them. The show doesn't make me laugh anymore. I hate Earl being in prison. I find the stories so boring now. When I eventually get through this season 3, I don't know if I should even bother buying season 4. If the rest of the series is going to focus on this stupid prison Earl, I'm not even going to bother.

Season 3 was awful. I think they lost half their audience during that season. The 4th season was a lot better but by that time it was too late. He isn't in prison during season 4.

season 4 is definitely better - the prison thing was a big mistake and they probably should have done more to spring him out early and change the premise mid-season when it started to tank.

Season 3 really is awful. They took a great show (seasons 1 and 2) and KILLED it with that ridiculous prison story. I can understand why the show lost so many viewers, and I now understand why the show was cancelled after season 4. I'm glad to know that he gets out during season 4, but like you said, it was too late. The show was doomed.

Alyssa Milano is who killed the ratings. There was no chemistry between her and Lee's character. She's a terrible actress. I don't watch any of her episodes, and is why I don't own that season, but do the other three.
