ABC Family's "Chasing Life" Renewed for Second Season

ABC Family is firming up its scripted fare under new development head Karey Burke. The youth-skewing network has renewed drama "Chasing Life" for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

An exact episode count has not yet been determined for its sophomore season. The rookie run consisted of 21 episodes including December's Christmas special.





The decision to bring the series back comes nearly three months after the bubble show starring Italia Ricci ended its freshman run with an average of 1.17 million total viewers.

The series, about a young girl with cancer and based on Televisa's Spanish-language drama, has been a consistent performer for the Disney-owned cabler in its time period. The show, airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m., ranked as cable's top performer in adults 18-34, women 18-34 as well as total viewers 12-34 and women 12-34 in the time period.
